Red-M Blade Clips Bluetooth to Palm Devices
Red-M just turned loose the Red-M Blade Bluetooth clip-on for the Palm Vx handheld computer. The gizmo attaches to the back of the handheld to give it wireless capabilities. When you're out of the office, the Red-M Blade can connect a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone (anyone have one yet?) to let you access email and will identify and can connect with other Bluetooth devices to enable wireless synchronization. It can also communicate with other Palm devices for applications such as game playing or sending SMS messages to your dinner partner if you don't feel like talking. The Red-M Blade is designed to let you charge the battery on your PDA without removing the clip-on attachment. It will be available this month for $199. This little news story might have been a little longer and more informative if we knew how the thing attaches to you PDA, how big it is, and what its range is, but even the company's website is vague on these points. Also, unless I'm mistaken, don't you also need an add-on module to Bluetooth-enable your cell phone? Those extras are adding up. Anyway, now you know it exists.
