RealNetworks denies security risk
RealNetworks will post a patch or an updated version of its streaming media player to its Web site to fix a bug some say could pose a security risk.
In current versions of the player, a Web address containing more than 299 characters will crash the application.
Unusually long addresses can be exploited in so-called "buffer overflow" attacks on computers. However, RealNetworks denies that the bug poses more than a nuisance to users.
