Real Networks wins patent suit against Ethos
Real Networks today said that it has won a patent suit, in which Ethos claimed that Real Networks infringed on ten of its patents and sought more than $200 million in damages. The jury found that Real does not infringe on any patent and invalidated 7 of the 10 claims made by Ethos.
The verdict resolves a legal battle first initiated by Ethos Technologies in September 2000. The lawsuit targeted products such as RealDownload Express (RDX) and RealDownload, the latter of which the company has not distributed for several years.
