Readers and dinosaurs rant on ZD
In reply to my story here
quite a few people wrote in.
Read your article in regards to the type of behaviour that I thought had gone from web based IT info sites, but it looks like there still burns the flames of the flamers out there that have no better understanding than use there ignorance to persecute others instead of good hard facts and enjoyable information about all areas of I.T.
I have been a keen reader of THG for, I don't know years now and I have been very impressed by the articles you have wrote and the other members of the THG group. In fact the only 2 main I.T websites I go to is yours and another. All the information I believe that I need to know in my line of work and personal IT world is covered mainly by your site.
What I am mainly trying to say is, I enjoy your work and to be honest its almost 'Who is Ziff ?'. I don't even see any of there content anymore. I have yours and other links you may provide.
Good luck and please, please, please keep up the excellent work.
Regards
Michael Salanson
Here is another one:
Even years ago when I first encountered ZD on TV, I thought they sucked. They struck me as nerds, but not enthusiasts. Meaning they pretended to be smart, but they were terrible and half the time were just plain wrong.
For example, on the subject of Voodoo 3 vs other cards: "Look here I took a picture from god knows where of a parrot (that doesnt relate to games at all) and converted it from 32-bit to 16-bit color by using photo software THAT DITHERS SO WELL, proving that you'll never notice the difference between 16 and 32-bit color!"
That was probably the first and last time I bothered with them. Anyway, its good to have people like you onboard at THG and the other real enthusiast sites. It takes the bias out of things, and makes reading about the new stuff more enjoyable. I like the freedom to draw my own conclusions.

This reader dared me to post this so, I can't back down (I have used an asterisk to hide some of his more impure thoughts, and that's my only edit). I consider this a positive reply, too. He really loves us, but just wants to tell me to shut up. He even gave me his phone number to call him so, I have to believe that he really cares:
Dude, SHUT UP! This is a hardware review site correct?
Why don't you little boys stop the immature act and
get on with life? If you want to be truely
competitive, then stand out from the rest and stop
your bickering amongst your competitors. If I want to
know what ExtremeTech is up to I will decide that on my own. I sure as s*** don't need your piddly, anal
take on it. In fact, I dare you to even post this
"type" of reader response on your gutless web site. It
doesn't have to be mine, just another loyal reader of
yours who may be just as sick of your lame attempt to
pass off political virtues on a freaking tech web
site. You have no tact! No ethic! No Life! IMO if
you're so intent and hell bent on knocking other
sites. Who gives a rat's ass except you anyways? I
take opinions from all over the web....just a "hint"
here for you Omid, if you think your readership will
not abandon your precious Tom's Hardware, I know of
several readers that have duely (sic) noted many of this
sites reviews going down the toilet. Your pumping out
quantity, not quality that was once expected of this
site. GROW UP and for pete's sake hire people that
know a bit about technology. I am an engineer in the semi-conductor field and half of what you guys refer to in processor reviews is utter bullshit. Did you know that the BV:P/Nmos (Breakdown voltage for gate oxide)does not occur until 10-12V on your typical 130nm gate? Why is everyone at your site (dumbass Lars
etc.) so hip to say..."Oh shit you had beter not up
the Vcore more than 1.85V when overclocking, that
could easily ruin your core". Stupid,
ignorant....Tweedle dum...dum...dum
Later, (oh and call me anytime as I am not a chicken
s***, we'll have a cordial discussion unlike anything
you've read in this email). Or just respond for once
and show you actually give a s***...
Best regards and grow up,
Lars Jaspenas
