Razer Announces Dual-sided Vespula Mousepad

Razer, the company that loves to make all sorts of funky gaming mice for those obsessive about mousing in PC gamers, this week unveiled the Vespula. The selling feature for this mousepad is a dual-sided surface offering gamers a choice between smooth and crunchy, just like for peanut butter.
"The Razer Vespula was designed with gamers in mind that need a single solution for every game they play. Different genres call for different gameplays. The advanced technology in the improved dual-sided mouse mat gives gamers the choice of a smooth Speed Surface or a textured Control Surface, which delivers just that flexibility," said Robert Krakoff, president, Razer USA. "The Control Surface is great for gamers that use small, precise movements, while the Speed Surface is an ideal match for gamers that prefer large, sweeping motions."
The Vespula also comes with a gel-filled memory conformance rest for tired wrists. The premium mousepad is priced at $34.99 in the U.S. and €34.99 in the EU.
We're a fan of dual-sided mousepads, which first caught our attention from fUnc's Surface 1030 mousepads.

I don't need a fancy mouse mat, in fact my mouse mat is home made using some foam from a crappy shiny plastic mouse mat that my old optic mouse didn't like, and a rectangle cut out of an old pair of black jeans. It actually does the job incredibly well.
I disagree Skid. A decent gaming mouse mat will reduce the friction between the mouse and the pad this in turn means; it's easy to react faster, its less stressful on the wrist to play for longer.
However when it comes to all these different mats they seem to release every five minutes I can't see much difference. Having said that I used to have a glass one, which looked nice though it was crap. I also had a funcpad? I currently have a Terratec Mystify one which works well.
steelseries 4hd for me. i don't have a big desk. plus it cost me little less that 10 dollars at best buy (as staff). really makes a difference in fps games and photoshop.
Looks like a Destructor with a wristwrest and speed/control sides.I already own a destructor , needless to say its awesome. If I was out shopping for pad - I would definetly get the vespula.
my qck+ is getting pretty worn. Might check this out.

...
the advanced technology? what a rough side and a smooth side, now that's what I call advanced!! It looks good, and I could certainly use one, but I think calling it advanced technology might be stretching things a bit.
Tbh i use a track ball mouse, I've found that it works so much smoother than any other mouse I've used before, but you have to hand it to Razer, yet again bringing us origanality in an awesomely cool way.
