Raytek's Miniature Digital Temperature Sensor

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Raytek has added new temperature options to its Miniature Digital (MID) temperature sensor. The MID products are part of the Compact Series of Raytek Automation Products. An MIC G5 model is now available with a 5-micron spectral response and a temperature range of 150 to 850°C (300 to 1,560°F) while the new MTB model has a spectral response of 3.5 to 4 microns and a temperature range of 200 to 1,200°C (390 to 2,190°F). The G5 option is designed for use in glass processing applications. Both the G5 and the MTB models are priced at $525US. Raytek introduced the first in its line of MID miniature sensors, which measure 14 mm diameter by 28 mm length (0.55 inch diameter and 1.1 inch length), in May 2000. The MID is a two-piece instrument containing a miniature, stainless steel sensing head, and a microprosessor-based array of electronics with a five-digit backlit LCD interface. Among the features included in all MID products are a 5V alarm signal triggered by target temperature or head ambient temperature, eight-position "recipe" table that can be interfaced to an external control system, external reset signal input for signal processing, external inputs for analog emissivity adjustment or external ambient control, and remote digital communication and control of up to 32 sensors in a multidrop configuration.
