Ramtron claims nonvolatile memory has unlimited endurance
Ramtron International Corp. has developed what it believes is the first nonvolatile memory with "unlimited endurance." Ramtron said its 3V 256-Kbit FRAM is guaranteed for at least 10 quadrillion read/write cycles. Each memory location can reportedly be accessed one million times per second for more than three hundred years without loss of data retention. Ramtron hopes its new 256-kilobit ferrorelectric RAM will replace low-power SRAMs. In quantities of 10,000, each unit costs $4.50.
