Rambus Signs With Sony, SCE and Toshiba for Yellowstone and Redwood
In a press release today, Rambus announced that it has entered into new agreements with Sony, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCEI) and Toshiba for the licensing of its new high-speed interfaces, codenamed "Yellowstone" and "Redwood." It is anticipated that these two interfaces will be utilized for future broadband applications with "Cell." The Yellowstone runs at a data rate of 3.2GHz. The Redwood interface is an ultra high-speed parallel interface that delivers a data rate reported to be nearly ten times faster than the most current processor buses.
