XFX to Ship Radeon HD 5970 in a P90 Gun Case

By - Source: Tom's Hardware US

Edgy packaging, but don't let the cops see you toting that around the streets.

Nvidia may have the fastest single GPU solution out right now, but the fastest video card title belongs to AMD with its ATI Radeon HD 5970. If leaks about an upcoming XFX product are to be believed, the Radeon HD 5970 is about to get a bit of a boost in an upcoming premium dual GPU card.

What you see here is supposedly an upcoming Radeon HD 5970 with 4GB of RAM and six mini-DisplayPort connectors, making it ready for Eyefinity6 – for six displays driven simultaneously.

While this new card coming from XFX will be topping the benchmarks for sure, what sets this vendor's offering apart from the rest is the supposed packaging that resembles a P90 firearm. The packaging will be plastic and can serve as a carrying case should you decide to tote your graphics card outside of your computer, though we do not recommend you do any of that out in public (at least not without painting the casing in a bright orange color first).

According to Legit Reviews, XFX will be handpicking the GPUs for this series of cards to increase their attractiveness to overclockers. As for pricing, we're supposed to expect pricing at around $100 more than current Radeon HD 5970 cards.

    only $100 more than a standard 5970?

AMD better rethink their approach to the 5870 Eyefinity6 costing "more than a 5970" then.

I'm sure customs will find a problem with this.

Well if they think that's what a P90 looks like then I'd be worried that they're picking the right chips for the card.
