Quantum and Benchmark Team up on Tape Automation
Quantum and Benchmark Storage Innovations just let us know about the addition of Benchmark's ValuSmart Tape80 to Quantum's PowerStor L200 and L500 library systems. Quantum says the partnership begets DLTtape technology's first half-high, 5.25" form factor and offers 80 GB of compressed capacity and a 6 MB/second compressed transfer rate. The PowerStor L200 and L500 with ValuSmart Tape 80 are available now with an MSRP of $5,495 for the L200 with a single drive, and $6,995 for the L500 with a single drive. PowerStor L500 supports up to three ValuSmart Tape 80 drives for backups of up to 64.8 GB per hour. The L500 is delivered with backup software packages including VERITAS NetBackup, Legato Networker, and Computer Associates ARCserve. ValuSmart Tape 80 is read-compatible with DLT1 and DLT4000 media and uses DLTtape IV media.
