Quake 4 for Xbox 360 to debut at E3
Los Angeles (CA) - It’s official. id Software today announced that it will bring the next installment of the Quake series to Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console. A preview of the game will be on display at Activision’s booth at this year’s E3 game conference.
The Xbox 360 got its first bestseller game title today with the announcement of the first-person-shooter Quake 4 coming to the new console. The game is currently developed by Raven Software in cooperation with id Software and uses the Doom 3 engine to transport players into a "into a war-torn science-fiction universe graphically realized like never before," according to Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software.
Quake 4 is the first game to utilize id Software’s Doom 3 technology. In the game, the player steers Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad and Earth’s valiant invasion force. Matthew can fight alone, within a squad, and in hover tanks and mechanized walkers as he engages in a heroic mission into the heart of the "Strogg" war machine.
The only way to defeat the Strogg is to become one of them. The player has to battle through early missions as a deadly marine, then as a marine-turned-Strogg with enhanced abilities and the power to turn the tide of the war.

id and Activision did not say when Quake 4 will be released. A spokesperson told us that the game will be introduced "when it’s done." Our sources however indicated that the game will debut together with the release of the Xbox 360, which is expected to take place in November of this year.
E3 Expo will open its doors on May 18th.
