Programmable Eight Channel Voice CODECs from IDT
IDT is now pushing a new family of octal CODECs that are capable of processing eight individual analog voice channels. The company is targeting the chips at enterprise/carrier-class network, wireless infrastructure, and access network markets and says the CODECs can be used for enterprise voice routers, VoIP gateways, multi-service access switches, residential integrated access devices (IADs), and digital loop carrier voice switches. IDT's new voice CODEC bundle teams the octal device with two quad CODECs. Features include AC impedance matching, tone generation, transhybrid balance, frequency response correction, gain setting, and a selectable microprocessor interface/general communications interface (GCI), that lets you select an appropriate interface for the system. IDT's octal voice CODECs are sampling now with production quantities available in late August 2001. The quad versions will sample in September with production quantities available in November 2001. Volume pricing of the quad CODEC devices starts at $3.90 in 10,000-unit quantities, and $10.50 for the octal CODEC in 10,000-unit quantities.
