Prices for entry-level pre-N WLAN routers slashed
Some branded network-equipment vendors in the US have recently adopted a more aggressive pricing policy for pre-N (draft 802.11n) WLAN routers, which could touch off a new wave of price-cutting among vendors for other pre-N devices, according to market sources. D-Link cut the price for its entry-level pre-N routers to $79.99 from $99.99 in June 2006, while Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, slashed its price to $99.99 from $129.99, the sources indicated.
