Portable Flash USB Storage: EasyDisk

We've seen all types of Flash disks in the past few months but this one seems pretty interesting, mostly because of its size, capacity, and the fact that it plugs right into the USB port on your computer. EasyDisk is basically a portable USB hard drive that you can throw into your pocket. On Windows ME, 2000, and XP, the OS will detect the device and add it as a free drive letter. Windows 98 requires an additional driver to be installed that ships on a floppy disk with the drive. EasyDisk uses solid state storage, so there are no moving parts, and comes with a 3 foot USB extension cable even though it will plug right into your computer without the cable if you can get to the port. It also includes a holder that can be clipped to your belt next to your cell phone, PDA, MP3 player, flashlight, and Swiss army knife (OK, I only know one person who carries around all that stuff). EasyDisk will be available in 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, and 128MB, and 256MB capacity modules starting in September, with 512MB modules available soon after. System requirements include Windows 98/SE/ME, Windows 2000, or Mac OS, and a USB 1.1 or higher port. The little Flash drive measures 81mm x 23mm x 12.5mm (3.19" x 0.91"x 0.49"), weighs 16 grams (0.56 ounces), gives you a maximum read speed of 950 kB/s, and a maximum write speed of 600 kB/s.
