Pokemon DS games hit one million in five days

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Redmond (WA) - The DS debut of the Pokemon RPG franchise has crossed the milestone of one million copies sold in five days, faster than any previous entrant in the series.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were put out on store shelves on Sunday, and the two combined have already sold more than one million copies in the US alone.

The DS brought the long anticipated introduction of online interaction to the Pokemon game series, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year.

Correspondingly, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are the first DS games to incorporate voice-over IP for in-game talking among linked users. Finally, the two games will be the first to make use of the DS’s connectivity functionality with the Wii when Pokemon Battle Revolution is released for that system on June 25.
