Plextor Announces SSDs in 64GB, 128GB Forms
Plextor, the famed maker of optical drives last week announced that it will be jumping into solid-state drives (SSDs), which will utilize Marvell controller chipsets in 64GB or 128GB configurations.
Plextor boasts that its SSDs will be equipped with a unique Wear Leveling algorithm that the company claims can prevent degradation of drive performance and prolong product life. Of course, many other SSD makers have similar wear levelling features, so we'll have to get one to test before we can judge just how well Plextor's SSDs stack up.
“Plextor has a lot of new items in the works, and we’re excited to announce our first line of SSDs to meet consumers’ demand for low power consumption, enhanced performance and reliability,” said Christine Hsing, Marketing Manager at PLDS.
Expect to see them in the first quarter of 2010.

Plextor - A company that used to mean so much but now....nothing happening.
I dont think the original Plextor really exists anymore.
They never really made optical drives but used to heavily modify existing units which was fine. I have one.
However, their current drives are just pure rebadges of SONY/NEC units.
Shame.
