PlayStation2 spawns powerful GScube
Sony has created a computer for the high-speed creation and transmission of digital graphics, based on chips developed for its PlayStation2 game console.
The GScube contains 16 sets of graphic units, giving it more than 10 times the image-processing capacity of the PS2. Sony said the device will allow film distributors to send movies over broadband lines, which it could then turn into a digital movie to be shown at theaters.
