Three months ago, Sony's release of the PSone, a repackaged version of its 5-year-old original PlayStation, puzzled many analysts. Research group PC Data has reported, however, that the PSone has won the top-selling spot in the game console market for three weeks now, with 42 percent of sales. Some observers believe the older technology is being sold to parents of children who want their first game system. The PSone sells for a third the price of the PS2 and many older but still popular games cost $10 or less.
