Pioneer’s announcement last week that it will purchase NEC Plasma Display’s operations will reduce the swelling ranks of the PDP (plasma display panel) market by one player. However, with the crowded market now overripe for a round of consolidation, NEC may not be the last company to make an exit from plasma, iSuppli/Stanford Resources believes.
