Pictologic announces processor for high-speed color laser MFPs
Earlier this month, Pictologic announced its PL629 SoC (system-on-a-chip) solution for high-speed color laser multi-function peripherals (MFPs) and all-in-one copiers and printers. With the chip currently being sampled by customers, the company expects devices using it to be available in the first quarter of 2006. Foundries Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) are all expected to be able to produce the chip, according to Pictologic.
