Philips targets channel brands to bring manufactures in line over royalty issue
Royal Philips Electronics is coming down hard on channel brands over DVD patent violations in a way to get manufacturers of DVD devices to pay royalties.
Philips in the past usually would only warn the retail channel over patent violations, and the prime targets in the royalty issue were the manufacturers.
