Overclocking – AMD’s OverDrive Badly Supported
There are two ways to change the multiplier in order to overclock the processor. The classical approach would be to go through the BIOS, which requires rebooting the system whenever you wish to make any kind of change. The second option is to use AMD’s OverDrive tool.
You can download the OverDrive tool from the motherboard manufacturers’ support websites. Although AMD has an info-website for its tool, there is no download link. There isn’t even any information regarding the latest version of the tool.
It is up to the motherboard makers to test new versions of the OverDrive tool for compatibility with their products and offer them for download on their website. The upshot is that there are many different versions of the tool floating around the internet. During the time we tested, we found various versions of the OverDrive utility on the support sites of ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte.

Oh dear...
This has certainly done them no more favours...
This is an embarrassment for AMD. It's actually worse that they released the Black Edition of this processor because it shows that even with all the tricks, AMD is currently not even posing as competition for Intel. I don't know what AMD will be able to do to keep going; it seems like no matter what they try they are still way behind Intel.
At least when Intel was beating AMD in performance in the early days of the P2, at least AMD was still a viable option because of their price/performance ratio.
I hope they come up with something though; I don't want Intel to be the only product and raise their prices.
Poor AMD. I liked you a lot but Intel are truly kicking your butts. Hopefully this is just a Rocky feint and they will be back with a vengence soon
