Personal Digital Radio On Demand

We've gotten pretty spoiled in the past couple of years about the need to customize what we listen to. With CD burners and MP3 players, we can pretty much program the tunes we want to listen to in the order in which we'd like to hear them, without being at the whims of a radio disk jockey. From the IBC show in Amsterdam, we just heard about yet another new audio technology that could add another layer of customization to your listening experience. Command Audio plans to demonstrate its system for delivering what it calls Personal Radio, which lets broadcasters create and deliver on-demand interactive audio programs. Using Personal Radio, you can select just the programs you want, then play them back when and in the order you want to hear them. The Personal Radio System includes broadcast authoring tools, distribution software, and digital radio receivers. Command Audio says the system can work over any digital broadcast network, including Eureka 147, IBOC (In-Band On Channel) and SDARS (Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service). It sounds like a pretty interesting concept even though I don't know what type of receiver you would need to use the system or who would undertake to put it in place.
