Major PDP makers to continue jockeying for top spot in the market
With Samsung SDI, Matsushita Electric Industrial and LG Electronics (LGE) all adding capacity over the next few years, each of the makers will have a chance to claim the leadership position in the global PDP market at some point. Although Matsushita retook the top spot from Samsung last quarter, Samsung recently announced it will invest 500 billion won (about US$114 million) to expand its PDP (plasma display panel) capacity, and sources estimate the company will again overtake Matsushita in the market by the third quarter of 2007.
