PCTEL to distribute Wi-Fi Hot Spot finder
Wireless
solution provider PCTEL announced today an agreement with Chrysalis
Development LLC to distribute a Wi-Fi Hot Spot finder.
Under the terms of the agreement, PCTEL will distribute the product to wireless carriers including cellular operators and wireless internet service providers. Chrysalis Development has filed for a patent covering the implementation and design of the product.
The keychain-sized device displays the signal level of in-range 802.11b/g access points and is said to be capable of distinguishing between a wireless network and other devices generating 2.4GHz signals. This means it should be able to tell the difference between an 802.11b/g network and a cordless phone or a microwave oven.
Chrysalis Development LLC is an engineering design and development firm based in Morton Grove, IL.
