Intel may be easing up on its attempt to pressure the PC industry into adopting Direct Rambus DRAM.

Intel is far from abandoning its preference for Direct RDRAM and Camino core-logic chip set over other memory architectures. However, the company seems to be taking a more tolerant stance toward the use of alternative memory solutions in Intel-based desktop systems.

In fact, sources say Intel is stepping up its launch of a PC133 SDRAM-compatible chip set, intended to fill the void caused by its most recent delay of the Rambus program and its corresponding Intel 820 chip set, code-named Camino.
