PC Card Adapter for Palm-Based Gadgets

Personally, I carry around a steno pad with a list of phone numbers pasted into the inside back cover and save my money for computer (and car) parts. Mind you, avoiding purchasing a PDA has less to do with a fear of technology than the fact that I tend to drop things. I generally go through at least a couple of cell phones a year (along with losing at least one wallet) and having one less thing to break is pretty much just cutting my losses. The steno pad tends to hold up pretty good, despite the fact that it's low tech, and when it comes time to archive, I just put the old one on the pile and break out a new one. However, many of you aren't as clumsy as I am and are very attached to your PDA. Being able to use a PC card with the gadget could be a plus and, for those of your who want to use a Type II PC Card or Compact Flash Card with your little miracle of technology, witness Parachute Technologies' Parachute III, a PC Card adapter for Palm handheld organizers. It clips on a Palm III series organizer allowing it to accept any Type II PC Card or Compact Flash (CF) Card through the use of a CF Card to PC Card converter. Parachute is taking on-line orders as we speak with delivery within six to eight weeks. The widget has a suggested list price of $149 but Parachute is currently knocking $20 off the price as a promotion. Other than the Palm IIIc, the company says the Parachute III is compatible with the entire Palm III series including the IBM Workpad PC Companion and works with many PC Card devices including the Novatel Merlin CDPD modem on the AT&T wireless Network and RIM wireless PC Card for the Mobitex network. More drivers are forthcoming.
