Panasonic updates HD camcorders

Cupertino (CA) - Panasonic has introduced its latest digital HD camcorders, offering more resolution than their predecessors with full H.264 support.

The HDC-SC3 and HDC-DX3 will provide high definition resolution to the tune of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a noteworthy rise over the 1440 x 1080 their respective earlier models offer.

The DX3 will write directly to DVDs, and through AVCHD technology, jointly developed by Panasonic and Sony, the HD video will not be compromised. The drawback is that the AVCHD format is not widely recognized by standard DVD drives. The SC3 saves to SD cards.

Currently only slated for a Japanese release, the DX3 and DSD will carry retail prices of around $1190 and $1275, respectively.
