PalmSource Joins OSDL
PamSource, recently acquired by Japanese software company Access Co, but still the center of a legal argument between Palm and Motorola, takes a major step towards Linux. The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) today announced that PalmSource has joined the organization as a founding member of a new Mobile Linux initiative.
PalmSource announced last year that it would build its new applications framework on Linux and port its Palm OS platform to run on top of the open source operating system. Access Co is widely expected to accelerate this strategy. According to the OSDL, PalmSource will work with other Lab members and the development community to advance the use of Linux in mobile devices.
