Palm's newest competitor - and its free
Cell-phone users in Europe might soon be able to upgrade to a new device introduced by Symbian that offers the same functions of a Palm organizer or handheld Windows CE device - for free.
Unveiled at the CeBIT computer show in Germany, the Quartz "communicator" features a color 320-by-420-pixel "quarter VGA" screen, with enough power for multimedia playback and support for MPEG, MP3 and video conferencing.
