Intel Corp. says that a minor Pentium 4 bug, discovered by PC makers working with chips sent out for product testing, resulted in a last minute update of the P4 BIOS. One function of the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) is to fix errata found in a chip after manufacturing. In this case, the problem concerned certain instructions that would cause the chip to overwrite data.
In related news, Gigabyte's GA-8TX motherboard is the third announced, with Aopen's AX4T and Intel's D850GB Garibaldi, to support the P4.
