P2P phone network planned
The Free World Dialup project is working on a peer-to-peer telephone network that makes use of users' phone lines over the Net to make all calls local calls. Currently in trials, the project is set to launch by April. The setup cost would cost users about $150.
Internet telephone plans have struggled in the past and many analysts are skeptical that current long-distance rates, in North America at least, will motivate people to change calling habits or let others tie up their lines.
