Orange Launches One Plan for iPhone+iPad Users
Orange customers with both an iPhone and an iPad 3G can now cover both of their devices with one contract.
Orange has announced a new two-year contract called ‘Connected’ that allows customers with a 3G iPad 2 and an iPhone 4 to have both of their devices on one contract. The plan works like so: Existing customers fork over £99 upfront and get a 16GB iPad 2 and a 16GB iPhone 4 with 600 minutes, unlimited texts, BT Openzone Wi-Fi and 2GB data allowance. Yes, that’s 2GB across both devices. People hoping to switch to Orange just for this deal will have to pay a little more up front.
It sounds like a decent enough deal, but it’s definitely going to cost you. Customers signing up for the 24-month contract will be charged £65 a month for the convenience of having both gadgets on one price plan. Of course, it’s not up to us to tell you whether or not that convenience is worth £1,659 (the cost of the upfront fee plus plan over two years), but ... it is rather expensive, isn't it?
Plans like the one Orange has just announced are not all that common and with several smartphone/tablet docking stations to come out of Computex this week, it’s clear customers do at least have some interest in sharing their smartphone plan with their tablet. And we can’t help but feel a tablet docking station that allows you to use your smartphone’s 3G connection is a better option than Orange’s iPad/iPhone bundle.

Orange customers with both an iPhone and an iPad 3G can now cover both of their devices with one contract. Small error the £65 is for people who want to buy both not people with both.
Orange has launched its first ‘connected’ plan for customers wanting to buy a 3G iPad 2 and iPhone on a single price plan, for a fixed £65 monthly cost over two years, plus an initial purchase price based on the chosen models.
