by - source: Tom's Hardware

Oracle, the huge database company based in Redwood Shores California, has released 51 security fixes for its database products. The fixes come as part of a ’Critical Patch Update’ that happens quarterly.

The patches fix 17 vulnerabilities in Oracle database along with 9 vulnerabilities in the company’s HTTP server. Those vulnerabilities could have allowed hackers to gain remote access to databases.

Oracle is ’strongly’ recommending that users apply the fixes as soon as possible. In addition the company says the fixes, "may break application functionality, so Oracle strongly recommends changes are tested on non-production systems."

The last quarterly update for Oracle happened back in October 2006 and fixed 101 vulnerabilities.
