Online spending still rising
Consumer online spending rose significantly in February over both the previous month and year. A study by Forrester Research says users spent almost $3.4 billion in February compared to January's $3 billion and February 2000's $2.4 billion. The increase, in the face of the overall economic slowdown, indicates that the online sector's strength is greater than previously believed. The growth can be attributed both to more users coming onto the Internet and more spending by individual users. The sector with the greatest increase was appliance sales.
