Broward County (Florida) – Divorce is obviously a painful process, but government officials in Broward County are making it just a bit easier by offering online divorce filings. Formerly happy couples can now start the divorce process by going to a website and following simple instructions that fill in the forms. Afterwards the forms can be either filed online or printed out and mailed.

Broward County is also offering online filings for small claims lawsuits and tenant evictions. The website has bold red lettering warning filers that the forms are not a substitute for professional help and almost every page says the following, “DISCLAIMER : This program is not intended as a substitute for legal advice or the services of an attorney. The Clerk’s Office is not responsible for the legal sufficiency of these forms.”

The forms are accessed at www.browardclerk.org and are meant for lower income residents who don’t have money to afford an attorney. It also saves people the time and expense of driving down to the local county courthouse.

A $20 online filing fee is accessed for all documents and if you’re wondering, the divorce costs $364 extra. Most of us have heard about getting fired by email or SMS, but how bad do things have to be between a husband and wife for them to divorce online.
