ON Shrinks Power Devices for Portable Apps
Reducing board space requirements for any component is generally a good thing, and ON Semiconductor told us yesterday that it's working toward that goal with the NTHx5xxxT1 family, a series of N- and P-Channel power devices that use ChipFET packaging technology. ChipFET brings leads to the bottom of the package, which increases available die area. In July of last year, ON Semiconductor and Vishay Siliconix entered a cross-licensing agreement, which granted ON a license to independently produce products that use ChipFET. The package is intended to keep the juice flowing in smaller electronic devices. With an initial product offering of nine devices in the 8-pin 1206 package, this portfolio features single and dual packages with N- and P-channel polarity, at three different voltages (8-, 20-, and 30-volt) and with operating voltages as low as 1.8 V. ON Semiconductor offers the NTHx5xxxT1 devices in the 8-pin 1206 package, with samples and production quantities you can get ahold of right now. Both single and dual devices are available. Suggested resale price ranges from $0.25, for single devices, to $0.30 for dual devices, in 10,000 unit quantities.
