Cambridge (MA) - The organization that wants to give a laptop to every child in impoverished nations now also wants to give them free video games. Game developers will come together next month to pitch ideas for a library of free titles for the OLPC laptops.
OLPC says that over 100 developers, musicians, artists, writers, and educators will attend its Game Jam event from June 8 to June 10. During the three days, they will pump out a handful of open license games.
As an incentive, the team that comes out with the best game will win one of the OLPC's notebook, dubbed the XO laptop, and free passes to GDC (Game Developer's Conference) 2008.
