Shots of OCZ's Z-Drive PCI-Express SSD
600 MB/sec. sustained write. Wow.
As fast as SSDs are, we're still craving for things even faster. OCZ's Z-Drive wants to crank things up using the PCI-Express bus, and now we have early photos of what this turbo-storage will look like (when it's not sitting inside a desktop case).
This amazing drive will come in capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. The bigger the drive, the faster the performance, with the 1 TB drive capable of a read speed of 878 MB/sec. and a write of 781 MB/sec.
No pricing yet, but if you have to ask…

It would be nice if for once we could have one of these news articles about PCI Express SSD's and normal SATA SSD's with the reporter actually doing some digging and reporting the price.
Can't you at least give us something to compare it it to? There are plenty of other PCIe cards like this on the market, surely it wouldn't be difficult to have a look at a couple of etailer sites and say 'XX company is selling a similar sized PCie X8 model for $XXXX, so expect to see OCZ's Z-Drive to retail at a similar price point'.
one Q: MLC flash or SLC?

Dude, you got XXX porn on the brain!
I'm quite happy with my two ocz vertex 30gb's in raid0 that I've just set up ATTO max of 459MBPS read and 310MBPS write for a total of £180....and no problem of having a suitable mobo pcie slot...what is that in the picture x4 or x8 ?
Be nice to see something along the lines of AMD's Hyper-Transport Technology linked upto such harwdare. What do you think, folks..reckong it would blow even this away?
The only thing I've seen so far similar to this is the G-MONSTER PROMISE pci-e SSD which at the moment is only available in Japan, but the company are planning to launch over in the UK by Q2 2010 I'm told. All the reports say this is an amazing disk, incredible speeds and reliability but the pricing is absurd, the 128gb model is going for the equiv of $1600 right up to the terabyte model at just under $5000 !!
If you can afford a couple of these in your rig, you are either Bill Gates or have more cash than common sense !!
