Nvidia unveils two more GeForce2 MX GPUs
Nvidia Corp. has announced two additions to the GeForce2 family of graphics PC chips, available in one to two months. According to TechWeb, the GeForce2 MX200 and MX400 chips differ from the GeForce2 MX in that the MX200 has only a 64-bit SDRAM interface and the MX400 has a 64-bit DDR interface and a 128-bit SDRAM interface. The existing GeForce2 MX chip has all three interfaces.
In a related story, Nvidia's rival ATI Technologies says it is making up lost ground in the GPU market. David E. Orton, ATI's president and COO, says his company's next graphic chip will surpass GeForce3's specifications and offer similar programming capabilities. No launch date more specific than "this year" was announced.
