Nvidia CEO: Apple Uses the Best Technology
Put your flame suit on.
Nvidia and Intel have been at times partners and at other times opponents. Things have been a little tense when it comes to the chipset arena, and it could get even hotter when graphics are more commonly integrated with the Intel CPU.
Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang already has some choice words against Intel. From the sounds of it, he must have been doing victory fist pumps when Apple decided to go with Nvidia chipsets for the current generation of MacBooks.
In fact, during a visit to the AmericanUniversity of Dubai, Huang told participants of his current computing preference.
Mr Huang said “Apple wants to differentiate. So inside your MacBook is a NVIDIA chipset. Because Apple wants to build fundamentally different computers than just the Intel platform. They want to add value.”
Mr Huang said that in his home they’re “all Apple.” According to him “Apple uses the best technology for their [computers]. Apple says to their customers: if you buy a computer from us you can be sure we have selected the best technology inside for you. That is their promise to consumers. Their promise to consumers isn’t we’ve selected the best technology for you with the exception of what Intel allows us to use. That’s not their promise. And that’s why Apple uses the best technology where they want whenever they want. And that’s why I’m all Apple! At home it’s just Macs everywhere. It’s NVIDIA’s technology in all of them but I use Macs. My son has two Macs, my daughter has a Mac, there’s an extra Mac just in case and my wife has a Mac. It’s just Mac, Mac, Mac! Because I know it’s got the best stuff inside.”

NVidia CEO uses Apple. Does this mean he no faith in any of his products from the last 18months?
(PS. Can someone point out to him that he can use an nvidia chipset and graphics cards in a PC...)
While using a Mac is fine, the way he said it just seems like he wanted to say "Apple" and "Mac" over and over.
poor guy....
Then again - I sort of get his point - I always wanted to have a computer museum in my house too
You end up with so many Macs because of the limited upgrade options. I wish I was a CEO I would do the same.
Apple indeed uses the best technology....from two years ago but charges todays prices unfortunately.
Does that "Best Technology" extend to the exploding batteries & the poor sound quality as well?
Everyone calm down. He is obviously now switching over to macs in his house, because it's the only platform left where Nvidia has dominance
best technology? yep. What macs come with 5870s?
best technology? yep. What macs come with 5870s?
I lol'd
Adam had him some apple...look what happened to him.I will never part my cash for something that looks like a lamborgini but has a donkey underneath.
I could probably weld together an engine from a Dodge Viper, throw the most expensive tires on it, hook up the best TCS and ABS, put the best transmission and flywheel on a car, but that car is probably going to fall apart from my shitty workmenship, or I'm going to neglect putting in a high quality peice where it is needed and the other peices will become useless or dangerous because of that choice of mine.
What I'm describing above is an analogy of people building custom computer, or more prominently, pre-built computers by asus, dell, etc.
I've built computers for over a decade of my life. I do it for all my friends, because it's fun, however even now I still neglect a jumper on the mobo, get a crummy sound card, or dvd drive, or find out a certain processor doesn't play as nicely as i want it to with a chipset. My current computer is bottlenecked by the cpu slightly, and I bought more memory than I needed.
My point is the "quality" Huang speaks of is the selecting of the right balance of parts, and the actual process of putting it together.
I'm sorry to tell you PC fanboys, but the macbook is rock fucking solid, has a good battery life, and runs everything (except heavy games and 1080p video has the rare hiccup) flawlessly.
Mac's are the Volvo's of computers. Not the most extreme performer, or the most featureful, but it'll run great and for a very long time.
---
Even if you want to ignore all I just said, the only important point I'm trying to make, is that their is more to quality than GHz, and GBs.
[also 2 year old technology is a retardedly ignorant statement.]
Apple = over priced computers
Nvidia = over priced graphics cards
Apple + Nvidia = even more hellishly priced computers^2
but thats just me
some funny comments. i have an apple (a recent one). it sucks ass. period.
fuinkjunky you hit the nail on the head, "Mac's are the Volvo's of computers" I would rather drive my BMW thank you very much, Mac's suck end of story
Wow... another good thread
))
I am happy with a rock solid computer that I've built myself and can use the way I want...
Whatever guys... be happy with your macs...
What's the point of this flame-war again?
Cannot you see? It's just apple / nvidia / toms benefiting from another apple-article on this site - more traffic = more clicks = more money
HA a volvo is dead slow and dam ugly
