Nvidia expected to launch Geforce 8800 on 8 November

November will be one busy month for gadget lovers and gaming enthusiasts. Add to the introduction of the Nintendo Wii, the Playstation 3, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 HD DVD drive, Intel’s quad-core processor and (likely) AMD’s 4x4 platform as well as Microsoft’s Zune audio player, Nvidia’s new generation gaming card.

Nvidia today sent out invitations for the introduction of the "definitive gaming platform" on 8 November in San Jose, Calif. Industry sources suggest that the company will introduce two versions of the 8800 - a GTX and GTS version, as well as new chipsets (nForce 650, 680). The flagship reportedly will run at a core clock of 575 MHz, integrate 768 MB of 900 MHz GDDR3 memory, and include 128 shader units.
