Nvidia, Acer conjure up `Aladdin' graphics
Nvidia and Acer Laboratories Inc. (ALi) have announced development of the Aladdin TNT2 integrated graphics chip set for the sub-$1000 PC market.
The Aladdin TNT2 merges ALi's Slot 1/Socket 370 Northbridge design and Nvidia's RIVA TNT2 3D graphics core into a single integrated chip.
The Aladdin TNT2 supports Pentium II, Pentium III and Celeron microprocessors and a variety of memory configurations, up to 1.5GB of EDO, SDRAM, or VC-SDRAM memory. Based on Nvidia's award-winning RIVA TNT2 graphics processor, the chip set's graphics engine delivers 32-bit rendering, 32-bit Z/stencil buffer and up to 32MB of frame buffer.
The Aladdin TNT2 chipset is sampling now and will be available in Q4, 1999, for $33 in 10,000-unit quantities.
