Many tech analysts have been forecasting near disaster in the computer business due to a slowing of consumer PC sales. These projections made some sense as the percentage of households without computers is rapidly falling in many of the most developed nations. New data, however, suggests that unexpectedly strong sales of notebook computers to US businesses will counter the predicted fourth quarter downturn.
