Notebook Platform Transition To Be Faster This Year
Intel’s delay of its Centrino 2 (Montevina) platform has given notebook vendors extra time to clear inventory, and since most vendors were cautious over supply in the second quarter, the transition to the new platform will be much faster than in previous years.
Due to increasing material and OEM costs and the adjustment of short-term orders to prevent overstock during the slow season, shipments to notebook vendors were not as high as originally expected in the second quarter, noted sources at notebook makers.
