Toshiba Notebook Does 3D Blu-ray Movies

This new notebook uses Nvidia's 3D Vision package.

Monday Toshiba revealed the very first notebook that can play 3D Blue-ray discs. Called the dynabook TX/98MBL, the device features a 15.6-inch wide LCD display with LED backlighting and a 120 Hz scan rate. The 3D aspects rely on Nvidia's 3D Vision software and hardware solution, while WinDVD BD delivers the standard Blue-ray playback.

Under the hood, the notebook sports the Intel Core i7-740QM processor, clocking at 1.73 GHz (default stock) and at 2.93 GHz (turbo). It also comes packed with Nvidia's 3D Vision Kit (active shutter glasses), Nvidia's GeForce GTS 350M 1 GB, a 640 GB HDD, 4 GB of RAM, a card-type remote control, and a nice velvety black finish. The visual experience is complimented with a combination of harman/kardon stereo speakers and Dolby Advanced Audio.

Although customers can choose operating systems, Toshiba said that Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 will be pre-installed before shipping. The TX/98MBL is slated to hit the Japanese market by the end of July--a North American release is planned, however the date has not been finalized. It's speculated that this notebook will sell for around $2,750.
