Norah Jones sets Amazon pre-order record
Seattle (WA) - After the Tuesday release of Norah Jones’s latest album, Not Too Late, Amazon was able to tally up the total number of pre-orders placed for the CD, and according to Reuters, became the leader in advance sales over the site’s 11-year history.
Amazon does not disclose sales figures for individual items, though the new album remains the #1 seller at both Amazon.com, as well as at the German, Austrian, Norwegian, Swiss, and UK versions of the site. The previous product to hold the preo-rder record was a CD from the Dixie Chicks.
"Amazon.com continues to be one of our top retailers for Norah Jones’ work. We were very pleased that Amazon’s customers were so enthusiastic once again about Norah’s unique, intimate sound," said Saul Shapiro, senior sales VP for Blue Note Records, which represents Jones.
Jones has released a total of more than five albums in as many years, most of which continue to sell in high numbers. 2002 release Come Away With Me and 2004’s Feels Like Home currently hold the #29 and #48 positions, respectively, at Amazon.com.
