Apple Computer Inc. began shipping its Power Mac G5 desktop this month, but the new system will be incompatible with the Mac’s top Windows emulator, Microsoft Corp. confirmed Wednesday. "Virtual PC, which Microsoft acquired from Connectix Corp. in February, will not run on the G5, the company said. Microsoft support representatives told users that Virtual PC for Mac makes use of a G3 and G4 CPU feature called "pseudo little-endian mode" that boosts Pentium emulation performance. According to Microsoft, this feature is required for current versions of Virtual PC to run."
