Nintendo Co. has unveiled its new GameCube video-game console. Unlike Sony and Microsoft, that have built non-gaming capacities into their consoles, Nintendo is touting the fact that they have a pure game-playing machine, and it is marketing the system to serious gamers as well as children. Due in Japan in July 2001 and the U.S. in October, it will have a wireless remote, a phone modem with an optional broad-band connection, and a special 405MHz IBM PowerPC processor. Nintendo also previewed its new handheld Game Boy Advance.
