Nintendo Exceeds Sales Forecast for new "Zelda" Video Game
Nintendo announced on Wednesday it has already pre-sold over 560,000 copies of "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" video game. This pre-sale number is huge, considering it is still two weeks before the video game is actually released for retail sale. Sales of Nintendo's video game console, GameCube, have lagged, but Nintendo is anticipating that the new "Zelda" game will help boost GameCube sales. The pre-sale for the new "Zelda" was incentized by Nintendo's decision to include two pre-released "Zelda" games, one of which ("The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time") has been rated by the video gaming industry as one of the best video games ever. According to video game retailer, Electronics Boutique Holdings Corporation, the "Zelda: Wind Waker" pre-sale numbers are exceeding the 2002 top selling video game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City", which sold over 1 million games in two days.
